Employers should strongly consider a Pre-employment exam that assesses essential physical requirements.
This exam will be customized to the specific responsibilities of the job and only screen for skills that are needed on a regular basis. The intention is to ensure your workforce has the physical capabilities to perform the job.
- Typical pre-employment exam is a general physical the evaluates musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, pulmonary, visual systems and ears/nose/throat. Some employers also incorporate a Human Performance or lift test to quantify strength with various activities
- Lifting, carrying, aerobic capacity during walking or step-ups, grip strength
- Results are forwarded to HR in delivery method of employer’s choice
- Employer does not have access to employee’s Protected Health Information but to pass/fail results of the physical exam.
Return to Work Physical:
Return-to-work physical exams help to ensure that it’s safe for your recently injured employee to return to work safely. This reduces your employee’s risk of getting re-injured and prolonging their recovery.
